Party Time

Baby showers are one of my favorite types of parties to plan.  The photos below are from a Bee themed baby shower I recently gave.
The party table was set up with black, yellow and grey decorations.

The small bumble bee cake and cupcakes had the guests buzzing.

Theses chocolate covered pretzel rods were the perfect party favors.
Using split yellow peas and black beans, I was able to create bee "stripes" in jars that held yellow daisies adorned with mini bumble bee stickers.
Even the water was given the yellow and black treatment!

Celebrating a loved one's birthday is a happy occasion!
This party was extra special-- my dad asked me to plan and
coordinate a SURPRISE party for my mom.  She had no idea!

Mom loves the color blue and white daisies, so it was easy to make the three
color theme for this party!  Her cake consisted of a small decorated
cake on the top of a cupcake tower.

Centerpieces were mason jars, wrapped with burlap ribbon and filled with fresh
babies breath from a local florist. Candles were added to pint jars filled with
yellow split peas.  the candles were lit just before mom arrived.

The photo booth was a hit too.  Signs made of black poster board and chalk
markers were great additions to the craft store finds of beads, hats, glasses and boas.

My handsome husband being silly in the photo booth!
The backdrop for the photo booth was a piece of black cloth
and paper party decorations from the dollar store.

The kids and adults loved the "sweet" table.  Mom's favorite
(peppermint patties) as well as lemon cookies and blue
wrapped chocolates finished this table.

The "gift" table was a sweet touch.  A burlap and daisy adorned basket collected "wishes" for the birthday girl.  Fresh daisies and a clothesline frame of family photos were the backdrop.

Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-BATMAN!!!
Super Heroes make great party themes

This all edible sugar Batman stood over Gotham as the
Bat-signal was shining over the city

This party was right after the third Nolan Batman movie.  My son picked
the Bane poster as the center of this birthday table.  The bats were cute from
black construction paper and stuck to the wall with blue painter's tape.

The boys played Pin the Bat to the Bat-Signal

They also made "gloop" because it's gross and they are boys ;)

A thirteen year old girl can be a challenge when party
planning.  This neon party was perfect though!

The girls spent so time donning the perfect attire
for their photo booth photo session...

For the sleepover portion of this party the girls
enjoyed a make your own cupcake bar...

The cupcake masterpieces were made with three flavors of
icing, sprinkles, candy stars and mini chocolate chips.  The toppings were
divided into plastic shot glasses I picked up at the Dollar Store.

And a fill your bag popcorn bar...

A huge bowl of popcorn was the base for the party mix that
consisted of pretzels, mini- M&Ms and dried fruit.
The girls used these fun, colorful bags to make their popcorn portable.

The colorful paper products made this part even more fun!

The next afternoon, the sleepover guests were gone and the
family came over to celebrate the day.  This giant cupcake
cake replaced the sprinkles on the display.  Guests could enjoy
a slice of cake or decorate their own cupcake too.  It was cute how
many grown ups chose the do-it-yourself cupcake!

Suddenly in our lives, MINECRAFT is everywhere!  Our son loves to
play this game... and so we had to have a Minecraft birthday party!

I wanted to have some interactive decorations so I created a
Creeper and a Steve head for the kids to try on and play with.
This process took a little time to finish, but the end product was well
worth the time.  I started with two shipping boxes.  I cut the bottom
of the boxes off so they were easy to wear as giant masks.  Then I
used a combination of construction and scrapbooking papers and
a square paper punch to make a few hundred squares.  Then I glued
the squares onto the box to create the Creeper and Steve.
These pictures are so cute!

The party table was covered in a green table cloth, like grass.

The was a simple round covered in green and brown/tan squares.
The fondant toppers were a pig, Steve, an Enderman and a
Creeper that our son made too!  Then we surrounded the cake
with chocolate cupcakes covered with green icing made with the grass tip.

Creeper balloons were made easily with green balloons and black duct tape.

The party favors were green rice crispy treats cut into squares
and topped with black fondant squares in the shape of a
Creeper face.  The tags were printed from the computer and
tied on with black paper ribbon.

As an activity the kids created sand art to take home.

Lego Love Birthday

This Cake and cupcake tower was easy to create.  The Lego men and blocks
were created with candy melts and silicone molds I ordered from Amazon.

Using black and white cardstock, yellow paper lanterns and I little
imagination, I created these Lego head decorations

We used Legos to create a utensil holder and for a "Guess How Many" game.

When the party table was all put together is was a cute little Lego spread.
